Six Sunday: "The lie"! (Nobody's Angel)

I've been working on scenes with Marc D'Alessio and Angelina Giardano for Nobody's Perfect, book four in my Rescue Me series (due out in mid May). I'm not going to reveal those scenes for a while, though. Suffice it to say, the couple from book two in the series (Nobody's Angel) will be working on the issues that are keeping them from making that lifetime commitment to each other.

While I left them happy for now at the end of their romance, as sometimes happens in real life, circumstances can derail a couple from working on the issues they need to. Their focus can get diverted to more pressing matters (which is what happened at the end of Angel). And, because i don't write fantasy Doms--and anyone in the lifestyle can tell you sometimes Doms and subs don't do the right thing. They're human. They make mistakes.

But we saw in Nobody's Hero that Angelina is still bothered by "the lie" and, in Nobody's Perfect, her already-shaken trust will be tested as Marc's past explodes in his face and he has to determine who he is and what he wants to do about his future with Angelina.

In this scene, Angelina is in the kitchen the morning after discovering Marc had been lying to her--wearing a mask to hide who he was. She's talking with Adam, while Marc is out climbing one of Colorado's 14,000-foot mountains with some corporate execs on one of his expeditions.

"But I've known Marc as a friend for seven years and I can tell you lying isn't in his character. He's an honorable man. Stubborn, arrogant, and domineering, too."

"I hadn't noticed," she said, hoping her voice dripped with the sarcasm she intended. "And why didn't he come over here and explain himself last night?"

"Marc will climb a Fourteener to avoid confrontation."
