Salute to Veterans with Kennedy Layne

Now I want to welcome Author Kennedy Layne to the blog. Thank you Kennedy for joining the Salute to Veterans Event. Can you tell us why you write military romance?

The story of how I started to write military romance is one that is dear to my heart.  You see, I met Kally at a convention and by happenstance; she had an extra slot on one of her special tours.  We started talking and a friendship formed.  She knew that I was a widow and a single mother.  Kally then told me of a special Marine that I just had to get to know (one that reminded her of ‘Master Adam’).  I wasn’t ready to meet someone and although he had said the same, Kally must have sprinkled her fairy godmother of love dust.  Within six months, we were engaged.  A year after that and we are happily married.  With him by my side, my life is complete, and it is only natural that I am drawn to write military romance.

Thanks Kennedy! See, there are real life happily ever afters :)

Blurb:

When former Marine, Connor Ortega, was ordered into the offices of Crest Security Agency on a Saturday morning, he didn’t expect the latest case to hit so close to home.  A submissive has been murdered in a particularly vicious manner and to bring her killer to justice, he must go undercover.  Not hard to do considering he’s already part of the BDSM lifestyle.

Lauren Bailey, a local vendor of bejeweled erotic implements, lives vicariously through her clients due to her fear of bondage.  When Connor’s dominant side can’t resist trying to ease her anxieties, she accepts his proposal and agrees to his one stipulation…keep things casual.

When the killer sets his sights on Lauren, Connor is forced rethink their relationship.  He has the training it takes to catch a murderer, but does he have the courage to escape his inner demons and capture Lauren’s heart?

First and foremost, I love life. I love that I'm a wife, mother, daughter, sister...and a writer. I am one of the lucky women in this world who gets to do what makes them happy. As long as I have a cup of coffee (maybe two or three) and my laptop, the stories evolve themselves and I try to do them justice. I draw my inspiration from a retired Marine Master Sergeant that swept me off of my feet and has drawn me into a world that fulfills all of my deepest and darkest desires. Erotic romance, military men, intrigue, with a little bit of kinky chili pepper (his recipe), fill my head and there is nothing more satisfying than making the hero and heroine fulfill their destinies. Thank you for having joined me on their journeys...

  2. Oh, love it with you call me the fairy godmother of love! You two are so damned cute together. Love ya!

I'm not joining in the contest, obviously--but my first Romance author was Rachel Lee. OMG, her Conard County series is to die for. I lost track of it when I went back to college and stopped reading for fun in the late 90s, but I think she's written some more. I have autographed copies of the first 12-15 I think, but hope to run into her again one day. Fabulous author.

  3. I guess my first would be Kallypso. I tried reading a Navy romance novel by a very well known author and it was so terrible I had a really hard time getting through it. If only real life as a military spouse were as magical as some think it is! Thanks Kally for restoring my interest in military romance!

  5. Kennedy I have heard Kally tell your story many times. So happy for your HEA. I have been reading military romance novels since I was a little girl. I am a BRAT (not to be confused with a bratty sub) and have always had a thing for a man in uniform. Love Kally's books, yours, JM Madden's, sooo many more not sure I have enough space.

  7. My first military romance was one of those Mills & Boon historical books where the hero had come home wounded from the crimean / Napoleonic wars. They made quite an impression on me in my teenage years and since then I have always loved the protective, take charge kind of hero. More recently I have started reading Kally's books and now have so many more by JM, Melissa, Sharon, Teresa and now yourself Kennedy that I want to read.

  17. My first was Kallypso. I'm a paranormal romance girl, but I found Kally after my son Dane (who has a beautiful write up on Kally's dedication page of Nobody's Perfect) passed away. It was love at first read and a series that I re-read often.

    1. Sue, please know you have been in my thoughts and prayers. Not a lot of people know this, but I was married previously and he took his own life. He was not in the military, but he did suffer depression. My son was ten at the time and is now almost fourteen years old. As you can see, when I met Kally, I was not even contemplating find new love. Fate had other ideas. Please know that Dane will never be forgotten...
