Six Sunday: "...I hate you!!!"

This week, I thought I'd post a Six Sentence Sunday blog from a scene in Chapter Seven of Nobody's Hero where Adam has just returned from Damian's apartment, where the younger man has been fighting his PTSD demons again, only to hear Karla screaming “I hate you for dying on me, Ian!..." Ian is her big brother who was killed in a motorcycle accident earlier that year. The scene continues:

"...I hate you!!!”

Karla? His heart pounded against his chest. Was she in the throes of her own nightmare? It sounded like she was up on the deck. He looked up in time to see a tiny projectile spinning end over end until it banged against his chest and bounced off.

Thanks for stopping by to read my Six this week! Each week, the new listing of Six Sentence Sunday (SSS) blogs go live at 9 a.m. EDT Sunday. This is a great way to find new authors to follow or read or to get exposure for your own writing! For a list of this week's participants in the SSS blog tour, go to http://www.sixsunday.com/. 1. If you've been putting off buying the books, wait no longer! I’m donating all royalties from about Jan. 26 to Jan. 31 to the Wounded Warrior Project (because my first three heroes are wounded warriors from Enduring Freedom and Iraq). The donation amount is currently at $1190.34 with more than two days to go! Here’s the link to my book sale sites: http://kallypsomasters.blogspot.com/p/books-by-kallypso-masters.html.

  2. I remember that scene! He was terrified something awful was happening to her. Loved how his protective instincts kicked in!

  7. oh wow, I am wondering what the heck she threw! Nice aim, too! NO idea what it could be, so you need to fill us in next week!

  8. JP and Melissa, it's right in front of your eyes. (I don't do continuous scenes in Six Sunday, so next week will be something different.) She threw a toy motorcycle, symbolic of her anger toward Ian for getting killed on one. She and her friends were in the midst of a ritual to get rid of their rage, pain, hurt from the previous year. Oh, wait till you read how Adam finds them when he finally makes it to his deck. LOL

  11. OT Question for you: I was stalking Smashwords because http://www.fictfact.com/book/75887/Nobodys_Perfect said Nobody's Perfect is out in February 1st. But Goodreads says "Expected publication: May 2012 (first published January 1st 2012)"
I didn't see it for sale anywhere - the release date is May 2012 then?
I saw the new release dates on your blog now, will let the other books add to Fictfact so I won't miss them.

Haven't read the other books yet, wanted to do that do all together. Sounds as if I should start to read what I have, huh?
    TIA

  12. CordyKitten, I've contacted an admin address at FactFict, but have no clue who controls the info there. They also got the dates for releases 2 and 3 wrong (always putting them on the 1st of the month--while I actually publish on the last day of the month, or whenever it's ready). What happened here to make them SOOO far off is that originally, I thought I could write books in two months. Then I started writing 115k to 137k books and there's just no way. THEN my sister found out that there was a chance her cancer could be removed via surgery (close, but not quite there yet). So, in December (I think) I announced on Facebook (where I hang out mostly--never figured out where to discuss things in Goodreads), I announced a new publication schedule. I planned to not write in January so I could be there for my sister. And I also have several conventions/conferences to attend this year. So, the new schedule (no exact dates, just months) is:

    Nobody's Perfect #4 (May 2012)
    Nobody's Dream #5 (August 2012)
    Nobody's Home #6 (November 2012)

And then I hope to take most of November and all of December off. (Totally missed out on the holidays with my family last year--don't want that to happen this year.) So, in part, the new schedule is so that I can have more time with my family, too. (And I'm gonna be a gramma for the first time in late September--which I hadn't planned on when the schedule came out--so I always say TENTATIVE! :)

Thanks for asking! And please, feel free to start reading anytime. Most of my avid readers have reread them several times now. You're WAY behind! :)

    1. Thanks for replying! (I'm not @ Facebook so I don't get the updates there.) My guess is Fictfact gets their dates from Amazon (because they had the one from there and not Ellorascave). I noticed that sometimes a date is wrong, too. If it's far off I started to bug them. When a new book is out and it's not on the list, too.

I'll contact them too and have them add the new books too with the tentative date. Too bad that Smashwords doesn't inform the readers when a new book is out; that would be neat. :D

Best wishes to your sister - and congrats to you for becoming a grandma.

And yeah, I should start reading soon so I'm up to date in May. Maybe I manage it :)
      Tnx,
      Cordy

  13. I am self-published, so it has nothing to do with Ellora's Cave. (That's a e-publisher.) My guess is that a member of FictFact put the books on there because they were enthusiastic after Masters at Arms came out. Unfortunately, I only give a month for the book coming out, not a date, because, unlike a publisher, I don't sit on a book for a month or two waiting to release on a specific date. When it's ready, I launch! ) And if it's not ready, I re-launch. Just uploaded new corrected versions of all three books yesterday. I'm never satisfied.

It's probably safer to tell them to use 6/1/12 for Perfect, 9/1/12 for Dream, and 12/1/12 for Home--then they'll definitely be out by the time they send out those notices about what's coming out that week. :)

Thanks! My sister's doing well. Just trying to regain her strength and get some sleep.

What I did mean with Ellorascave (but didn't explain right) was that Laurann Dohner's last "New Species" book had the publish date from Amazon - it was out a day later with EC = they go with Amazon dates. I'm getting your books from Smashwords - there I can get them in pdf and epub too when I buy.

Oh and what do you mean with "Just uploaded new corrected versions of all three books yesterday" - are there different version @ Smashwords?
Then I could download them again and read these. :D

    2. Can't edit my own comment so I make a new one - I can answer my own question - Smashwords offers which version I want to download.
So I'm checking out the newer ones and replace the old ones on my e-reader.

    3. I actually uploaded to Smashwords almost a week ago (1/30, I think), but had to go through my formatter for the Amazon, BN, and ARe versions. So choose the newest ones (always the top ones) at Smashwords and you'll have the latest. To avoid confusion, I even put on the copyright pages that they were revised editions. I like that Smashwords makes THAT easy.

I don't get all hung up on what release date the various places give. Some give the date you uploaded (and usually at Amazon and BN, it's the day before I say it will be available, because you have to give them time to approve the uploads, sometimes 12 hours later). As long as it's in the ballpark! On Smashwords, Masters at Arms says 8/9/11, but I didn't announce it was available for about 3-4 days because I was working on glitches. So, in my mind, it's more like 8/13--but it doesn't really matter. As long as it's published! LOL
