Six Sunday: Master Damian meets Marisol

This week, I wrote 600 news words in Nobody's Perfect (the now May 2012 release that will tell Damian and Savi's story), so I thought I'd post a Six Sentence Sunday blog from a scene with them from the already released Nobody's Hero.

SSS SETUP: In this scene from Nobody's Hero, Damian has run into Savannah, now Savi, and her daughter. Of course, Marisol is Damian's daughter, he just hasn't put the pieces together yet to figure that out.

“Hi, I’m Damián. What’s your name?”

“Marisol.”

Marisol—surf and sun. His mind went back to the cave at Thousand Steps Beach with Savannah. Best not to remember that day.

  1. I can't wait to read this! Damian & Savi sound like they will have a very emotional, bumpy ride ahead.

Continual prayers for Mary & you & Family!

    1. Thanks, June! Yes, they do! But at least she's able to come to Damian for help, which puts them together to start working on all those issues!

And thanks for the prayers. She's had some small setbacks, but is still progressing by leaps and bounds. We just take it one day at a time.

    1. I don't keep up with numbers--is 9 the current year? This year's has been my favorite. Um, hope I haven't ruined Master Gibbs for you. Hey, the man's a Dom in his own right. I mean, have you heard the lines the writers give him? "Somebody needed a safe word." and "Good girl." And when he goes all Dom and gives usually weepy women that stare? *shivers* I didn't start noticing those things until after I started writing Master Adam's character, but now several readers and I are always trying to see who can post the lasted "Master Gibbs-ism" fastest on my Facebook wall on NCIS night here in the States.

    1. Christina, I'm working on Savi's backstory--another prequel, if you please. It will help me get into her head if I fill in the missing eight years. I may post it for readers who won't mind knowing more about her than those who would rather have snippets of memory revealed in Nobody's Perfect. If I do it, that will be in February, probably on my blog and maybe Smashwords, unless I can offer it as a free read at Amazon. (They have too many rules these days--and I won't sell my soul to them for their exclusive Select contract. Like my Nook readers too much to do that!)

  6. I don't think this will get me in trouble, if I post it in comments rather than the blog, but that scene needed more than six lines. I was just in a hurry last night and had Damian on my mind. :) So, here is the scene from Nobody's Hero (released 12/31/11) from the beginning of when I went into Damian's point of view. Teresa is his niece. (Yeah, he'll piece it together soon. He's a man, so we'll give him a chapter or two in Nobody's Perfect to figure it out):

Damián watched as Savi took the little girl’s hand and started toward the doors. He wasn’t sure why, maybe because Savi was so determined to shield the little girl from him, but he needed to meet Savi’s daughter. As they passed by him, he knelt on one knee and addressed the little girl. “Hi, I’m Damián. What’s your name?”

    “Marisol.”

Marisol—surf and sun. His mind went back to the cave at Thousand Steps Beach with Savannah. Best not to remember that day. “What grade are you in?”

    “Third.”

She was older than he’d expected from the photos in Savi’s office. He looked at her face again and thought how much she looked like Teresa.

Damián stood and met Savi’s gaze only briefly before she grabbed her daughter’s hand. “Mari, we need to go. Now.”
Savi was gone through the door in a flash. Damián stared after them until the door slammed in his face, then turned to face Karla and Father Martine again.

    1. LOL--yeah, I think we all can guess. It's in Section Two of Masters at Arms, if you want all the erotic details, though. The series starts with scenes in 2002 and goes to the present day--lots of history!

  13. I couldn't help myself and started reading Nobody's Hero this morning (I have soooooo much to do today). Loved Masters at Arms. . . The scene in the cave between Savi and Damian was magic.

    1. Hope you enjoy it--and that you also read Nobody's Angel, because the opening scene in HERO actually stems from drama at the end of ANGEL. Definitely not a stand-alone series. :)

  19. When will nobody's perfect be released? I'd heard June but still can't get it and I'm spool ready to read it. I've read the other books in 3 days.

  20. Preliminary edits began today and then come two weeks of line edits, so we're still about a month away, but nothing definite until we see how it all goes. Please see my "Update on Nobody's Perfect" blog posting from late June for an explanation as to why the book is taking so much longer than predicted.

Thanks for your patience and I'm glad you're enjoying the series. Some of my poor readers have been waiting for this story since December/January--so it could be worse! But each day brings us a little closer to having it ready.
