Not entering the contest, but want to share about a special veteran named Jack who is a Marine and still active duty despite losing his leg above the knee in an RPG attack in Ramadi in 2004. He was very kind to get me onto the base at Camp Pendleton during my visit in May so that I could see the place I wrote about and also get to meet some of the Marines and Navy personnel at the Wounded Warrior Regiment/Battalion West. Very inspiring! And so is Jack!

KallyKallypso Mastershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15006389527038649254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8092863692483031132.post-14699645719929361592013-11-12T23:56:59.811-06:002013-11-12T23:56:59.811-06:00I don't have any huge stories about my dad--he...I don't have any huge stories about my dad--he's a naturalized American citizen and served in the US Army as a young man. He told my dad that he took care of the mules and played the organ for the church services. Now that we are going through my grandparents house, we have found pictures and letters that show he did a lot more than that. A friend told me based on his uniform that he was a sergeant.
